According to Statista, the Analytics-as-a-Service (AaaS) industry will be worth 58.71 billion dollars by 2027. Google Analytics is one of the top tools that come to mind when terms like AaaS pop up. Keep reading to discover more facts about Google Analytics services, including the current usage of Universal Analytics and Google Analytics 4.

Google Analytics owns over 29% of the Web Analytics Software Market

Google Analytics has the highest market share in the web analytics leading technology market, with a percentage of 29.62%. As a company, Google dominates this market, with three of its products holding the top three positions in the global market, giving the company a combined total of nearly 70% market share. Google Global Site Tag and Universal Analytics hold the second and third highest percentages, with approximately 24% and 20%, respectively.

Since Google introduced Google Analytics 4, it has seen steady growth in its usage and customer adoption. As the platform continues to grow and improve its features, more and more businesses are adopting it. According to recent statistics, almost 9 million websites have created and/or fully migrated to Google Analytics 4 and use it for their analytics activities. 

Over 37 million websites still use Universal Analytics

Despite the sunset of Universal Analytics (UA) on the 1st of July, 2023, there are still 37 million websites using it for their everyday analytical activities. As the migration deadline draws nearer, more businesses and marketers may migrate from UA to Google Analytics 4.

About 18% of GA4 websites are from the United States

We mentioned earlier that almost 9 million websites are using Google Analytics. 18% of those websites are from the United States, making it the country with the highest number of GA4 users. As of April 9, 2023, there are 1,599,092 websites in the US using GA4. The United Kingdom has the second largest percentage with 160,282 websites - a tiny percent when compared to the United States. The marketing industry uses Google Analytics the most

This one is no shocker. Google Analytics franchise has made data-driven marketing a whole lot easier. The top three industries using Google Analytics are Marketing, Social Media, and Digital Marketing, with a combined total of about 105,000 customers. Companies in the Branding and Design industry are also ardent users of Google Analytics, with a combined total of about 55,000 users.
